After almost completely selling out of much-anticipated ferry food trays on Opening Day today, Mariner food vendors announced their stock of ferries may not be fully replaced until 2032.
“We’re gonna do our best with the supply we still have, but honestly we don’t know how much longer these will last,” said Steve Blaine, spokesman for Washington State Ferry Food Trays. “We know several have unfortunately already run aground due to people forgetting the ferries are on their laps when hopping up to celebrate home runs caused by Guardian pitcher malfunctions — we want to get those ferries replaced as soon as possible, which is unfortunately 2032.”
Although there were initially plans to add extra cute electric, battery-powered ferry food trays that light up at night, those plans have been sidelined to expedite production. In the meantime, ferry food tray waits may get longer.
“We’re hoping to set up a ferry food tray reservation system by this summer so that if you’re hoping to see a Blue Jays rematch at home, you’re not missing the first half of the game waiting three hours in line,” Blaine said. “Their price will be going up due to supply and demand, but we assure you they will be no more expensive than what it costs to replace a real, full-size Washington State Ferry.”
Although the new line of incoming ferry food trays won’t be electric as many had been hoping, Blaine confirmed the modernized line will at least include the addition of a tiny man vaping in his tiny car.
