Just hours after Macklemore announced he’d been dropped by Ed Sheeran’s Loop tour for saying “Free Palestine,” his replacement has reportedly also already been dropped by Sheeran’s tour for saying “Free America.”
“Ed told me that Gilette Stadium owner Robert Kraft called him earlier after my controversial ‘Free America’ post today in support of upholding constitutional rights like free speech and voting and said he had to drop me,” said up-and-coming singer Mandy Grace. “Ed told me that the words had also hurt a lot of people he spoke with who feel safer when certain people don’t have constitutional rights or human rights in general. I told him if those words are more offensive than thousands of people being unlawfully and indefintely detained in federal detention centers and worse, then there’s a fundamental disconnect between where those people stand and where I stand. But once again, he couldn’t get past his public facing ‘I don’t take sides. Also, I’m British and I still think kings and queens are cool, you sure you don’t wanna try it again?”
Grace’s words set off a quickly escalating social media firestorm with accusations that her “Free America” statement basically meant she wanted every white man dead.
“When she said ‘crown thy good with brother and sisterhood from sea to shining sea, that was basically a death threat—she wants us all dead,” said Kidrock in several posts online today criticizing Grace. “Close one, Ed, she almost got you.”
At press time, Sheeran had already selected a new opener pre-approved by Kraft, self-proclaimed Na*i Kanye West.
