Shortly after Seattle’s local NPR affiliate KUOW reported that a glitch in local Mazdas had the vehicles’ radio stations permanently stuck on KUOW no matter what their owners tried, the public radio station calmly reminded listeners that their Subarus are next if they don’t become a sustaining member.

“That’s right, beloved listeners: First it’s the 2016 Mazdas – next it’s nearly every single one of you planning on hiking this weekend,” said a chipper Seattle Now host Patricia Murphy. “Not to worry – just become a monthly donor for as little as $8 a month and you’ll always be able to turn the station before having to listen to audio of another mayor acting like they’re really going to clean up Third Avenue. If $8 is too much, hey did you know you can give up on your car altogether and donate that to us instead? Either works!”

KUOW Fundraising Director Shawna Templeton said so far their “Subarus Are Next” campaign is one of their most successful in radio station history.

“Quite frankly, this is blowing our 2019 tote bag donor extravaganza out of the water,” said Templeton. “Naturally, next month we’ll be threatening Priuses.”

At press time, KUOW said they considered threatening Teslas first might be more lucrative but the vehicles’ radios are reportedly already stuck on Joe Rogan.
