The official and unofficial 520 Bridge Twitter accounts  announced today they’re crossing over into the podcast world this summer with weekly episodes of “Just Another Floater.”

The podcast will focus on meandering in-studio interviews with commuters, long-form true-crime bridge-based stories, as well as live episodes recorded on its bike and pedestrian paths.

“On Twitter, sure, you get a play-by-play of traffic of any given day, maybe with a cool meme or gif now and then,” said the official WSDOT 520 Twitter feed. “But I think our followers are craving a deeper and more raw relationship with the longest erection of its kind.”

If the show gains a strong following, organizers are already considering a separate 15-episode arc on the history of bridge construction and a spinoff series on Microsoft Connector commute diaries.

ZipRecruiter, Squarespace, and Blue Apron have already signed on as sponsors.

“It’s a natural fit,” explained UW Marketing Professor Sandra Larsen. “The podcast should attract affluent listeners in the 35-44 age demographic, but mostly just anyone who’s increasingly replacing conversations with live human beings with podcasts – any fucking podcast.”

At press time, the Washington State Department of Transportation’s communication team was recording an episode featuring KUOW‘s Sprince Arbogast and KIRO radio’s Chris Sullivan drinking beer and dishing on the real-life, behind-the-scene traffic reporting stories in a sprawling, unedited three-hour salon.
