The Seattle Department of Transportation announced Monday afternoon that 4th Avenue — the only street in Seattle that was still left open as of this morning — is now closed for “much needed repairs.”
“I really wish we could have waited,” lamented Seth Pellitere, director of SDOT. “But having all traffic in the city confined to that stretch of road over the weekend has really done a number on it.”
Planned improvements include installation of new signs and re-configured lanes that, after road re-opening, will still take another six weeks for drivers to even remotely understand.
In the meantime, SDOT estimates drivers can expect an average trip across the city to last an extra three months.
