After a long summer vacation in Florida, a local viral COVID-19 particle confessed today that she has a lot of anxiety and trepidation over returning to school this fall.

“I’m just a little worried people forgot who I am,” said Delta Variant. “I know wildfires, leaving Afghanistan and Texas got really popular over the summer—which I totally get. I’m just worried some of my notoriety from last school year may have faded as much at Chet Hanks’ has. Fingers crossed I’m still way more toxic.”

Despite being nervous, however, the young COVID virus expressed excitement at the chance to meet all sorts of new students it hadn’t been introduced to yet.

“Even if I get viciously bullied by vaccines this year, honestly I’m still really excited to put myself out there,” Delta said. “Whether it’s elementary, middle or high school, there’s a whole new group of unvaccinated kids that I really think I can touch and connect with.”

At press time, a giddy Delta was reportedly already under the bleachers making out with the new Mu variant on the block.
