Although he had to sell his 3.1% minority stake in the 49ers in order to buy the Seahawks for a record $9.612 billion, today the Paul Allen Estate assured new Seahawks owner Vinod Khosla that he still gets to own San Francisco on game days.
“Seahawks players and coaching staff of course own a majority stake in obliterating the 49ers on the field, but the Khoslas will still own a handsome percentage of that—way more than 3.1%,” promised the late Paul Allen’s sister, Jodie Allen. “How much is still up for negotiation right now as we hammer out the final details, but—just to be clear—Leonard Williams has 100% dibs on Brock Purdy.”
The news came as a relief to Khosla.
“I’ll miss owning part of the Niners all year long but it’s nice I get to own them again whenever they play the Seahawks away or at home,” said Khosla. “If their games against each other are anything like last year’s NFC West Division Championship, I’ll definitely be getting to experience owning them more than I ever did before.”
Though still unconfirmed, Khosla’s purchase of the Super Bowl champions reportedly includes also owning many if not most other NFL teams on game days.
