After a rough winter for everyone, one AirBnb host is contractually requiring their Leavenworth cabin renters to Live, Laugh and/or Love or else pay a $25 Love More Worry Less fee.
“Welcome to Cozy Cabyn! As you probably already know, times have been tough and so we are now requiring all renters live, laugh and/or love before they leave,” said a note left AirBnb host Clyde McDonough left on the kitchen table. “We’ve unfortunately had too many recent renters ransack this place with too many arguments about whether coming here was even a good idea, the point of staying here instead of a hotel, and how much vacation rentals have made it impossible for people who work in these communities to find an affordable place to live. Can you believe renters would worrry about such things when people like me are worrying the state might pass an extra tax on AirBnbs to fund building more affordable housing? We hope you understand and are #blessed.”
The couple renting the cabin today found the request odd especially in addition to all the extra service fees.
“Wow, it’s not enough that we have to take out our own trash and wash the linens – we also have to laugh and/or love?” said Christine Runstad. “Well, at least we don’t have to do both if all I really feel like doing is mercilessly making fun of how much my husband wants to see an alpine horn blown before getting a bunch of sausage.”
McDonough is reportedly also considering making another cabin sign non-optional by requiring renters to non-denominationally “Bless this Mess” before cleaning it all up or else pay a $50 spiritual cleansing fee in addition to the mandatory $75 cleaning fee.
