As support poured in for Jimmy Kimmel after ABC indefinitely pulled his late-night show off-air, the comedian admitted in an exclusive interview with The Needling that he’s actually still more pissed at the Seattle radio station that fired him in 1990 for making fun of the owner of the Mariners.

“Sure, a lot more is at stake here with my late-night show being canceled – my entire staff’s livelihoods, the institution of late night comedy shows, and the First Amendment or whatever,” said Kimmel as his hands balled up into fists. “But if I’m being honest, I’m actually still way more pissed KZOK in Seattle fired me from my first show hosting gig ever for making fun of the owner of the Mariners. I know my song ‘George Argyros is a Mighty Schmuck’ lost the station a $8,000 advertising contract from the team, but how else was I ever going to become a true Seattleite without making fun of their owner? It wasn’t fair.”

Although losing his national late-night show could hurt, Kimmel confirmed he doesn’t think it’ll hurt anywhere near as bad as losing the opportunity to live and work in Seattle forever.

“Don’t believe me? When I interviewed Michelle Obama on her book tour at the Tacoma Dome, being fired from my first job in Seattle is all I could talk about,” Kimmel said. “Disney dumping you can’t hurt when you’ve already been dumped by the one who got away.”

At press time, Kimmel was reportedly waiting for the Mariners to blow it again so Seattle welcomes him back to make fun of the team’s ownership until the end of time.
