One local woman was overcome with sorrow on her morning walk today after she encountered a lone, destitute Lime Scooter fallen on the sidewalk.

“I was coming home from my 8 a.m. yoga class when I saw the undocked Lime scooter laying in desolation on the ground across the street,” said Natalie Thompson, a longtime Downtown Seattle resident. “I immediately ran over to it, almost tripping over the homeless guy who’s been living on the same corner for weeks now. I just can’t believe we as a community have let things get to this point.”

According to officials, there are an estimated 1,800 dockless Lime scooters throughout the city and on any given day close to one-third of them are believed to be struggling to maintain their balance.

“A lot of times dockless scooters fall due to no fault of their own,” said a spokesperson for Lime, an organization devoted to supporting the well-being of electric scooters of the bright green variety. “Other times, though, these dockless scooters are subjected to brutality by pro-Pedestrian activists who shove them onto the ground because they feel sidewalks are only for pedestrians.”

At press time, Seattle City Council President Sara Nelson was looking into ways to cut taxes for Lime’s biggest investor, Uber, so its scooters can better financially and physically stand on their own.
