With the 1 Line under construction for nearly a month, Sound Transit light rail riders are receiving constant texts about delays and mechanical issues. But Saturday night at 11:44 p.m., Rachel received a text that said, “The 1 Line is running on time but wanted to check in because I’ve been thinking about you a lot lately. Be well.”
We spoke to Rachel to get the tea.
“Where do I even, like, begin?” Rachel laughed to herself while playfully brushing her hair behind her ear. “I started riding the 1 Line this summer, but we weren’t exclusive. I kept my options open by riding the bus, Ubers, and Lime scooters too.”
To further clarify what was going on with situationship, we talked to the train to learn more.
“Like Rach said, we’ve both been seeing other people and/or modes of transportation, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about her you know?” said the graffiti-sleeved 1 Line while waiting at Capitol Hill Station for a text back just to see whether he’s been blocked yet. “Rach and I didn’t know each other for very long, but I took her to places she had never been before. Like Othello. Lime scooters can’t do that.”
At press time, the 1 Line had texted the same message to 10,000 other Rachels in Seattle and was left on read by all of them. Trains are expected to be delayed this week because the 1 Line is reportedly, “in their feelings.”
