The Seattle sports landscape was shaken up today after it was announced that Russell Wilson, perennial Pro Bowl quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks, was traded to the Denver Broncos in exchange for an NFT of the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

“It’s hard to say goodbye to a player with the talent and character of Russell Wilson, but ultimately my job is to bring home another Lombardi Trophy—and I’m pleased to announce I now have a JPEG of what that would look like,” said Seahawks Head Coach Pete Carroll. “If I’ve learned anything since our last Superbowl win it’s that it’s really dang hard to win another one of these things, so why not just use the most valuable asset the team has to buy a facsimile of it? I’ve been assured that NFTs are just as good as the real thing, and in some cases even more valuable. I think we’ll look back on this one day and be pretty pleased with the return on investment on this bad boy.”

Fans around Seattle were stunned and saddened to learn that the future Hall of Famer would no longer be playing for the Seahawks, but were ecstatic that the city was now in possession of a picture of a second Superbowl win.

“I didn’t think I’d ever get over our loss at Superbowl 49, but I think having an incredibly costly digital image of a trophy that I can just look at on Google anytime is a big step in the right direction,” said Seahawks superfan Matt Hamill. “I’ll sure miss Russ and everything he’s done for the city, but at least the memes are gonna be fire when Gardner Minshew is our starting QB week 1.”

Seattle Seahawk fans can already view their second Lombardi Trophy at the new Seattle NFT Museum for a ticket that only costs twice as many fiat dollars than a ticket to see the first physical Seahawk Lombardi Trophy at the Seattle Center EMP Museum.
