The latest Democratic debate in South Carolina Tuesday night quickly went off the rails as bickering between Senator Amy Klobuchar and Mayor Pete Buttigieg escalated into an all out cat-and-mouse chase across the stage.
“Ms. Moderator, Pete won’t stop making faces at me!” screamed Klobuchar, lunging at Buttigieg. “What’s wrong? Don’t have an Obama soundbite to steal? I’ll have you know I just earned the endorsement of the esteemed Seattle Times Editorial Board – the same one that endorsed George W. Bush for president and, most recently, a Trump-supporting candidate for Congress. So, yeah!”
Pete Buttigieg took his customary 45 second rebuttal window to address Klobuchar’s claims while cowering behind Senator Elizabeth Warren.
“You’re just jealous because I have more billionaire donors than you,” sneered Mayor Buttigieg from behind the Massachusetts senator’s legs.
After a commercial break, Mayor Buttigieg and Senator Klobuchar were seen facing away from the audience in opposite corners of the stage after Senator Warren ultimately sent them to timeout.
