Monissa Davis and Arren Hanks had planned a quiet night out on Capitol Hill for their third anniversary dinner and somehow ended up at some kind of comedy show?
“We heard this place was super low key,” said Davis of Señor Dragon, a new Chinese/Mexican fusion restaurant in the neighborhood. “That sounded perfect for us.”
But their perfect evening soon derailed.
“So then this guy walks to the front of the room and says that a comedy show will be starting in five minutes. And we’re like ‘Wait what? A comedy show?’ To be honest, we would have left but we had just ordered and we really wanted to try the Sweet & Sour Burritos.”
Fifteen minutes later, the comedy show started.
“It was fine, I guess. There wasn’t a lot of people there so the whole thing felt super awkward.”
Davis estimates that approximately six of the performers asked her and Hanks if they were on a date.
The couple was reportedly able to slink away before any bitterly divorced performers were able to impart relationship advice.
