One local Eddie Vedder is safe and sound tonight after Seattle Fire rescued them from a high tree branch they somehow climbed up and got stranded on earlier today.
“Although incredibly athletic for the most part, sometimes these guys just overestimate their abilities, especially as they grow older,” said today’s hero, firefighter Hank Jackson. “Sure, maybe a few years ago they could playfully climb up so high in their tree the boughs they break or scale stage scaffolding and land on their own two feet unscathed, but not anymore. We’re so happy we were able to rescue him before he did anything that would force an immediate knee replacement surgery.”
The Vedder’s family said they were eternally grateful to Seattle Fire for being able to arrive on time to coax the grunge band frontman off the branch into the arms of safety.
“We try to not let him out of the house as much anymore so he doesn’t get himself into trouble like this, but all it takes is leaving the door open for a second sometimes and they’re out!” said Vedder’s wife Jill McCormick. “We know this is the 10th time he’s had to be rescued like this but we promise to do a better job keeping him still alive.”
At press time, Seattle Fire was on their way to Krist Novoselic’s house after he once again missed catching a guitar he threw in the air and knocked himself out.
