After wide public criticism of her bill that would have eliminated a financial conflict of interest ethics law, today Seattle City Councilmember Cathy Moore announced she’s resigning to spend more time at home lowering the ethics standards of her family.

“While it’s been my honor to scare Seattle residents into thinking the same corruption happening in the Trump administration could also happen right here at home in their own City Hall, right now my family needs my shameless toxicity more,” said Moore, councilmember for North Seattle’s District 5. “While I’ve been busy trying to dismantle renters’ rights and more affordable housing options, Lord knows how much self-esteem my husband and children have regained without my unhinged narcissism focused specifically on them.”

Moore’s last day will be July 7, after which the City Council will for the second time this year have to appoint an interim councilmember to fill a seat.

“I trust my colleagues can appoint someone who hates poor people as much as I did my best to,” Moore said. “Well, I don’t hate them—I just don’t get why so many of them live in apartments and tents when they could live in a multimillion-dollar single-family home. The choice seems obvious to me, which is why I’m heading back to mine for good.”

At press time, news of Moore’s resignation was quickly being upstaged by a raucous housewarming party for a new home Tanya Woo bought today in Northgate.
