Cozy in their knit turtleneck sweaters while sipping a warm mug safe from the cloudy cold outside, Seattleites across the city said the weather on the first day of summer couldn’t have been more perfect.

“I was so afraid the first day of summer was going to get ruined by another depressing day of full, non-stop sunshine that’s been plaguing us here all spring beckoning us to go outside and do stuff,” said Brianna Beasly as she looked out at the cloudy skies promising to bring even more rain over the weekend. “Before it rains, I need to get my puffer on and walk over all the crunchy leaves that have fallen because of how sunny and dry it’s been for weeks. Then back inside of course to watch some Gilmore Girls.”

Brianna’s boyfriend agreed there’s no more perfect early summer day than one that’s pretty much just gray and devoid of any bright, blinding sky orbs that wake you up at 5 in the morning.

“I know it’s only a matter of time before it’s miserably warm and sunny again—so we really have to make the best of it,” said Wyatt Clark as he read by firelight. “ … real summer is coming.”

At press time, Brianna and Wyatt were cuddled together on the couch in their thick sweaters watching When Harry Met Sally.
