The Trump administration asked Congress this week to rescind $1.1 billion already allocated for public broadcasting outlets including NPR and PBS, which has led to NPR downsizing one of their signature programs to “Some Things Considered.”
“We can no longer afford to consider all the things,” says show host Ailsa Chang as she provided The Needling with a sample transcript of the newly abbreviated show. “That thing you’re worried about? Not going great. Now back to jazz.”
Pressure from the White House is leading to additional changes for NPR.
“The President said he wants to see concerts at a much larger desk,” reported NPR President Katherine Maher. “And we’ve already ordered diminutive, little totes for our next fundraising drive. The silver lining there is they will be big enough to fit the amount of groceries our listeners can still afford.”
If Congress agrees to Trump’s recission request, one local dad is reporting you will hear all about it on “Mourning Edition.”
