Within 24 hours of landing in Seattle, animal shelter workers are confirming that all 19 rescue cats flown in from California are already complaining about the Mexican food here.

“You know how transplants are: Even when they’re cats – didn’t skip a beat,” said Seattle Humane spokesman Landon Furcz as he finished his Taco Time. “All cats seem a little judgmental, but the look Catalina gave me when I started eating my Mexi-Fries just had me like, okay, we get it: You come from a land that grows fresh avocados and people who know these aren’t fries, they’re tots, and neither of them are remotely Mexican, only culinary sacrilege.”

The feline California transplants were also reportedly not satisfied with the quality of local purrito rolling.

“I was trying to calm the anxiety of one of these cats after their long flight up here by rolling them up in a cozy blanket purrito, but then its toe beans spilled out the top and bottom and it just glared at me with pure disdain,” Furcz said. “It’s like, hey, you know how lucky you are to even be getting eye contact from me, buddy? Please adopt them as soon as possible, especially if you’re another California transplant who’d be great at complaining about local food, weather and the ‘Seattle Freeze’ with them.”

At press time, the 40 dogs flown in from California along with the cats were reportedly not only fine with the Mexican food here but so overflowing with love they don’t even mind that the Seattle Humane shelter is actually in Bellevue.
