Today Yakima Native and football wide receiver Cooper Kupp said he was overjoyed to leave the Los Angeles Rams to play for the Seahawks in his hometown of Seattle.

“All growing up, I remember taking that short, 143-mile drive down to The Clink to watch the Seahawks play, so I can’t believe I get to play for them now as their very own hometown hero,” said Kupp, who was also a record-setting college football star at Eastern Washington University in Idaho. “It’s such a stroke of luck to play professional sports for your hometown team, so I’m getting a lot of nice congratulations texts today from everyone in the NFL who I’ve told I’m from Seattle, the Palm Springs of Washington.”

The Super Bowl MVP said he can’t wait to drive up the 5 to the 405 to the Seahawks’ practice facility in Seattle.

“I’m actually so excited about being a Seattle resident again that I’ve already bought a really nice home just north of Central Market,” Kupp said. “It’ll be nice to once again live in the same lush, forested city as my family and childhood friends, who will now only be 2.5-hour trip down the block just on the other side of Mount Rainier.”

Kupp confirmed he’s also pumped to give his hometown an edge in its longtime rivalry against the 49ers whether they’re playing here in Seattle or just south of Stanford University in San Francisco.
