Today longtime Instagram, Facebook and X/Twitter user Haleigh Perkins said she’s still holding out on joining new social media alternative Bluesky because she’s just not sure it’s run by a misogynist enough billionaire piece of shit yet.
“I don’t know – last time I checked Bluesky isn’t even owned by a Dark MAGA CEO who bought the last presidential election in order to ensure our democracy’s swift descent into fascism this year,” said Haleigh. “Where’s the pasty, GOP-simp CEO dressed like a cringey DJ who’s donating millions to Trump’s Inaugural Fund and publicly bending over to change how his platform works before he’s even officially president? Bluesky is just some Seattle-based benefit corporation run by a chick named Jay Graber who is purposely designing the platform to not turn into an algorithm-manipulated hot-bed of alt-right Rogan bros and Elon reply-guys. Get back to me when she walks out of Mar-a-Lago with her knees as red as Zuckerberg’s still are.”
Haleigh said she’s also concerned about reports that people’s posts are actually getting seen by their followers, who followed them with the intent of actually getting to see their content sometimes.
“Whatever happened to making people fight to see your content even after they decided they wanted to see your content by following you? No pay to play? How unserious,” Haleigh said. “And on top of that, there’s no ads and accounts you didn’t ask to see your feed because the CEO is on the record saying she doesn’t want to ‘enshittify the network with ads.’ What’s a doomscroll without Elon and RFK Jr. being forced into my feed against my will even after I blocked both of them? It’s not even shoving AI down my throat. How can I trust it’s a real social media platform if I don’t know how it’s blatantly trying to brainwash me and make the world a living nightmare for everyone except the uber-rich?”
At press time, Haleigh said Bluesky still might be able to woo her over if it at least makes a little bit more of an effort to enable, empower and cater to men doing everything they can to dismantle every human right this country’s most conscientious citizens have attempted to establish and enshrine over the last two and half centuries.
