Today it was revealed that one of the 200,000 people to cancel their Washington Post subscriptions this last week after its owner Jeff Bezos blocked the famed newspaper from endorsing Kamala Harris for president was local Amazon Prime member Janice Clark.

“I’m sorry, I just can’t financially support a newspaper that can’t take a stand on this pivotal of an election,” said Clark, who has already reallocated her $40 digital WaPo subscription to cover part of her annual $179 Prime membership. “Sometimes you gotta make a stand yourself and hit a billionaire like Jeff Bezos where it hurts, you know?”

Clark, who is still one of 200 million and nearly two-thirds of Americans with an active Amazon Prime membership, went on to say sometimes the most powerful way to vote is with your dollar.

“I’m done reading and financially supporting corrupt mainstream media like this,” said Clark, who has no intention of instead financially supporting any of the nation’s independent, non-corporate news outlets that are routinely financially hanging on for dear life. “Who would have thought a billionaire like Bezos would sink so low as to put his own financial interests ahead of the common good and democracy itself? It’s almost like there was never any good intention behind him buying the paper at all—ooh! Excuse me, my sixth Prime same-day shipment this week is here!”

At press time, Clark was asking her Alexa to read off the latest news from CNN and MSNBC.
