In a testament to how much the Seattle City Councilmember and homeless shelter-fighting landlord who just proposed the idea of no-protest zones this week loves community input, citywide Council seat candidate Tanya Woo has generously left an ample amount of white space on her campaign signs.

“It’s been so hard to get a word in at City Council meetings this year since everyone on the Council who appointed Tanya Woo to a vacant seat has cut public comment shorter and often pushes to not even do it in-person anymore,” said Seattle voter Hank Vogel while the smell of a big fat black sharpie still wafted in the air. “So I really appreciate how thoughtful it is that—even after losing three elections straight in under two years—she’s left this much room on all her campaign signs for us to express what we think of her and her voting record this year on the Council. And of her alleging that ‘Fuck Tanya Woo’ graffiti about her treatment of tenants wanting to celebrate Juneteenth was not only racist but associated with a death threat so grave she did not report it to police, only the FBI and a local newspaper.”

Woo’s obvious love for civic engagement despite not showing up for elections before she was a candidate or for some media candidate interviews is inspiring countless local people to vote.

“At first I didn’t even want to vote because I find the options we have for the presidential election to be so depressing, but then I saw a Tanya Woo yard sign that had a ridiculous amount of room on it for someone to write ‘Fuck Tanya Woo’ on it and all my passion for voting and democracy came fully back to life,” said another local voter, Cecilia Moreno. “Thank you, Tanya Woo, for reminding me that showing up and making my voice heard so that your political career ends matters.”

At press time, Tanya Woo was finally being briefed on what the Streisand effect is and was reportedly heard saying “Well, fuck me indeed.”
