Today millions of citizens of a country that is not even close to being better than this and never has been talked about how they’re better than this.
“In this country? This is above us,” said the citizen of a country that’s been economically based on enslaving and/or committing genocides against people since its founding. “What kind of country are we if our political leaders are no safer than the countless school classrooms of children and teachers that have been mowed down over the years without us doing jack shit to prevent it again? This cannot stand.”
“What has become of us?” said the citizen of a country that has killed almost 200,000 people in Palestine over the last nine months but hasn’t said a word about that yet. “I long for more innocent hammer-battered Pelosi’s husband times.”
“We need to take the temperature down a notch,” said the citizen of a country lighting the world on fire with its inability to regulate corporations like Chevron. “Just because a leader threatens to kill you in more ways that one doesn’t mean we can’t be more civil with each other. Much like sea levels across the world, we too can rise above this.”
“I can’t believe the lack of respect people are showing for a man who just had his life threatened—we have to do better,” said the citizen who is definitely a man. “Sure, he’s a rapist, racist, and man openly planning to violently turn our country into a Christian theocratic fascist state who should have been locked behind bars a long time ago if there was ever any real justice in this world, but according to our irreproachable Supreme Court, we have to remind ourselves that’s just fine because he was a president of the United States, and that means he automatically deserves all of our respect and well wishes no matter the circumstances. I, for one, welcome our photogenic geriatric overlord.”
At press time, the country was reportedly never going to be better than this if they kept lying to themselves about how they were ever better than this.
