Just days after it was announced that Everett’s Paine Field is being renamed Seattle-Paine Field Airport, Tacoma quickly stole the spotlight away today with the unveiling of their own new T-Pain Field.
“Oh, okay, Seattle—I thought we had something special going on together with Sea-Tac Airport, but if you want to run off to an Everett airport and give her your name too, that’s fine,” said Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards. “I can buy myself airline partnerships and, as it turns out, enough drinks to get rapper T-Pain’s lawyers to sign off on having an airport in Tacoma named after him. Sure, I told him the airport would be in Seattle, but that’s not the point.”
T-Pain himself flew out to the Grit City today to celebrate the rebranding of Tacoma Narrows Airport to his legendary name.
“Never thought I’d be on an airport name marquee named after me, especially in Seattle what a beautiful city,” T-Pain said through autotune at a press conference earlier today. “Now that this honor has generously been paid, excuse me shorty, where is the Starbucks mermaid?”
As an extra draw, the City of Tacoma said T-Pain has already recorded all of the airport’s unattended baggage PSAs and all other airport announcements will automatically be autotuned.
