Following news that Washington State Sen. Joe Nguyen would be his first serious challenger for his elected office in years, sources confirm Dow Constantine’s campaign is scrambling to remember what a King County Executive is and does.
“I can’t believe someone else not only remembered that this elected office exists, but also even wants it – WTF?” said Constantine. “Shit, shit, shit. Now I need to remember what this position even really is for the first time since I was elected in 2009.”
Constantine campaign staff has reportedly not been much help yet.
“I have no idea what the hell his position actually is either – does anyone in King County?” a senior level campaign staffer told us. “Wikipedia hasn’t really helped. Apparently former Gov. Gary Locke was King County Exec at one point, so we tried to call him to just get a grasp on it but then we got embarrassed and hung up.”
Nguyen, Constantine’s challenger, said he sees this news as an opportunity to educate the voters on who he is and what he’ll be doing.
“It’s like mayor of the county isn’t it?”
