In remembrance of George Floyd on the day of his murderer’s conviction, local politicians all around the Seattle area announced at 7 p.m. they would be praying you forgot all about who murdered John T. Williams, Charleena Lyles and Manuel Ellis.
“Today, we call for justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner and all victims murdered by police in any region of the country but our own,” announced Mayor Jenny Durkan at a press conference today. “We’re also praying we can continue talking vaguely about addressing systemic racism and police brutality instead of enacting specific plans for holding police officers accountable for any kind of abuse – especially not the murder of certain people I will not name because we’re all kinda hoping you forgot about them by now.”
The entire Seattle City Council echoed Mayor Durkan’s sentiments in statements also celebrating justice served today for George Floyd, all while praying to not talk about their total lack of control over one of the most abusive police departments in the country.
“We’re so glad everyone is so focused on Minneapolis today and we’re praying it stays that way because our communications and legal departments told us it would probably be best if we never mentioned John T. Williams or Charleena Lyles again unless we’re absolutely forced to by overwhelming public pressure,” said Council President Lorena Gonzalez. “And because people in glass houses don’t throw rocks, we’re gonna hope you forgot about Manuel Ellis too so we don’t need to call out our Puget Sound region neighbors at the Tacoma Police Department and Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.”
Local Seattle politicians said tonight they would also be remotely joining hands to pray that everyone will stop asking for the names of the six Seattle Police Department officers who rioted the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 insurrection.
