Previously thought of as a semi-routine family outing, one local family surprised their beloved matriarch, Deborah Franek, today by rebranding this weekend’s planned trip to Wild Waves as a Mother’s Day gift.
“It’s not Wild Waves in Federal Way anymore – it’s the gift of obligating my wife to show what a great mother she is by getting the kids ready for a waterpark weekend excursion all on her own while I watch ESPN,” said her husband Robert Franek. “It’s the gift of making her make sure the kids and I have fun without killing ourselves on her special day.”
Family sources report that, despite spending the better part of the morning coaxing seven-year-old Justin out of Hook’s Lagoon after he bit another child and lodged himself in the slide, Deborah is having the “time of her life.”
“I know she chipped her tooth on Riptide, but I’m absolutely sure she loves sitting most of the day out just watching us have fun for hours,” Robert said. “The kiddo and I have done Zooma Falls like four times. Hope she’s getting a lot of photos of how awesome this Mother’s Day has been for herself.”
In a final gesture of gratitude, the Franek family presented Deborah with a tribute of watery Dippin’ Dots for everyone to share and suggested the brilliant idea of “doing this for Mother’s Day every year.”
Asked what part of the day she loved most, Deborah said it was definitely hiding in the laundry room after coming home for a little me-time applying aloe vera to a few blistering sunburns.
“I can hardly wait to rebrand fixing the roof and clearing the rain gutters as special Father’s Day presents.”
