In addition to hobbies such as sneering at beer and recounting unlistenable fishing stories, Ballard man Cole Wilkinson recently toyed with enjoying “the idea” of woodworking.

“I’m really intrigued by the idea of creating something with your bare hands,” said Wilkinson while pulling back and cuffing the sleeves of his finest Pendleton flannel. “Whether it’s a pipe I pretend to smoke, or an extraordinarily wobbly chair, the idea of narrowly avoiding chopping off a finger is something I truly enjoy pondering.”

Wilkinson said he spends hours on woodworking subreddits and websites learning and thinking deeply about all that’s entailed in starting a new hobby without ever actually starting it.

“Oh, I would never actually do woodwork – what I’m into is more of a woodworker’s form of tantra,” Wilkinson stated. “I like getting to just the edge of buying an electric saw and then pulling back, getting to the edge of clearing out part of the garage and then pulling back. It’s actually way more pleasurable than going all the way if you ask me. You should try it.”

Wilkinson’s girlfriend Sarah added that he’s also quite fond of edging with the idea of gardening, bitcoin and edging.
