To ensure the utmost professionalism in its ranks, Seattle Police Officers Guild President Mike Solan announced today that the union would be opening up an extensive investigation into all officers who didn’t ransack the U.S. Capitol in January.
“After putting a lot of thought into this, I think the only sane and reliable guardians of public safety we have in our precincts are the ones who spent hundreds of dollars during a pandemic to fly hundreds of miles away to a rally called ‘Stop the Steal,’” said Solan. “We will be fully investigating all officers who had the audacity to stay home and accept we live in a democracy.”
Solan said he and the union’s legal team would simultaneously continue to stop the city from releasing names of the six “brave” Seattle Police Department officers who did attend the Jan. 6 rally that turned into a violent, murderous riot of the U.S. Capitol.
“These six proud officers are the bravest of the brave, and that’s why we’ll continue fighting tooth and nail in the courtroom to keep anyone from knowing their names and political affiliations – information that I’m sure would shock everyone,” Solan said. “Your silly public records requests into the Office of Police Accountability’s investigation of their rally attendance is no match for our commitment to publicly protect our right to publicly support racists attempting to overthrow the U.S. government and then keep all records of that private. We don’t need any of our officers being threatened by public accountability afterward.”
Meanwhile, the city’s investigation into the DC rally attendance of the six officers continues said OPA Director Andrew Myerberg.
“I think we’re gonna need a few more weeks to stare at photos of the officers there on Jan. 6 to determine if they participated in any illegal activity instead of asking ourselves if there was any sane, respectable or excusable reason to be there at all.”
