In a recent vote ranking the best recordings by former Guns N’ Roses bassist and Seattle resident Duff McKagan, the Seattle Harmonious Institution of Telecommunications (SHIT, formerly KOMO) has determined Appetite for Destruction as the winner, followed closely by his voice-overs at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Taking the music world by storm in the mid-80s, Appetite for Destruction serves as a touchstone for all rock n’ roll throughout the decade. Sea-Tac Voiceovers, however, enters unprecedented intercom announcement territory with his exploration of whether or not to leave your bags unattended in the airport. The Other Guns N’ Roses Album came in a tight third place.

“It was such a close call!” said SHIT reporter Eric Johnson. “On the one hand, ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ and ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ are truly incredible. But on the other hand, without Sea-Tac Voiceovers, how else would I know proper airport procedures? All in all, I’m just glad we have Duff McKagan in this world to give these unforgettable recordings.”

Reached for comment on the rankings, McKagan wrote back to us saying he is “extremely proud” of both Appetite and Voiceovers, and he wishes to thank everyone involved in the production of both recordings “…except Axl Rose.”
