Head of the Downtown Seattle Association, Garett Brooks, held a press conference this afternoon to remind everyone that West Edge is a “real neighborhood” and “not an elaborate joke perpetrated by the city.”
“Look, it’s no Fremont or Capitol Hill, but West Edge is a vibrant community in its own unique way,” Brooks said over the derisive laughter of the reporter gathered there.
After five minutes of silence Brooks muttered “condos and office towers can be charming, too,” before sullenly walking off stage.
There were no questions from the person attending the announcement.
In a follow-up statement emailed to local media, Brooks added for the record that “technically” Pike’s Place Market is part of West Edge.
