More than a week after the death of Microsoft co-founder and ostensible philanthropist Paul Allen, visitors of Seattle’s Museum of Popular Culture (MoPOP) were overjoyed to find they can still look at his toys for $30.
“Wow, he was one of the world’s top billionaires and was still kind enough to let the average guy pay $30 to look at pieces of pop culture history he couldn’t fit in his house,” said Pete Walters, 42, of Seattle. “That kind of generosity will always astound me.”
The museum’s exhibits feature memorabilia like Jimi Hendrix’s favorite hat, Pearl Jam’s first batch of jam, and Kurt Cobain’s heart-shaped box, along with treasures from the fantastical worlds of Star Trek and Star Wars, like William Shatner’s toupee and Han Solo’s dog tags from Star Wars.
Those who can fork out another $10 per ticket get access to special touring exhibits too — all for the low, low single ticket price of $40 (reduced price of $30 with military ID!).
