Dale Wexler of Seattle’s Arbor Heights awoke early Saturday to find thieves had rifled through his unlocked car in the night, leaving his 1998 Subaru Outback—usually filled with fast food wrappers and other detritus— in a much less unkempt state than they had found it.

“I saw my door was open so I went and looked inside,” Wexler told reporters. “Somebody bagged up all my Starbucks cups, shook out my floor mats, and alphabetized my CD collection. I’m not sure how to feel about this.”

Police say they received at least three similar reports of vehicle break-ins in the area, including a claim that a 1992 Toyota Tercel was hot wired, washed, waxed and detailed in the middle of the night, before being returned curbside.
