Today local light rail rider and sub Ryan Donnelly was once again let down by Sound Transit when its fare enforcement officers failed to punish him for not having a ticket.

“Not even a slap on the wrist. At this rate, it’s gonna take forever for me to finally get my first two verbal warnings so that I can get my first two violations and then—what I’m really hoping to get pegged with—that $124 civil infraction,” said Donnelly biting his lip while still trying his luck on a Capitol Hill Station platform. “I guess I’m gonna have to start getting serious about this and spend a lot more time at the South King County stations.”

Sound Transit officials said Donnelly is looking in the wrong place for his free rides.

“This is light rail, not subway, buddy—you go to New York City for that sort of thing,” said Sound Transit Spokesman Deuce Bray. “Oh, Governor’s Hochul’s enforcement officers will take care of you real good. That’s some hardcore stuff and supposedly the safe-word is ‘guilty.’ They do some rough stuff out there.”

At press time, Donnelly said that although he was still hopeful that enforcement officers would find him and finally make him pay the price for his bad behavior at some point this summer, a new fare enforcement denial kink was kind of growing on him.
