Under pressure to improve Boeing’s safety reputation, today Boeing executives quietly visited the Museum of Flight to see the only remaining Boeing 737 that was built correctly.
“Wow, look at all the rivets! It’s like every bit is really secured to every other bit,” outgoing Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun said, grabbing the wing of the display 737 and giving it a good shake. “Do you think they’d let us take it back? We need to submit something to the FAA really soon.”
While Calhoun was impressed by all the different shapes planes used to come in, Boeing Board Chair Larry Kellner was disappointed the museum didn’t cover his favorite parts of the history of flight.
“I don’t see a single display about outsourcing, or the greatest stock buybacks in history,” Kellner said, looking bored. “But it’s fine, I’m not really a planes guy.”
Before leaving, the Boeing executives took performative selfies in the Aviation Safety Exhibit, but declined to read anything, asking docents, who did they look like—engineers?
