One local man declared total victory over his opponents at Mox Boarding House today after deploying a bold “hoard all Gore-Tex resources” strategy to win the board game Seattlers of Catan.
“Everyone thought I was crazy to focus on only a single resource type, but when the raindrops inevitably began to fall, everyone came crawling back offering me their Coffee resources,” said Bryce Thompson, enjoying his victory in the Seattle-themed version of Catan. “Then I focused on development while everyone else foolishly tried to build the longest road. Experienced players know that strategy doesn’t work in Seattlers because the construction never finishes when you get near the Tacoma Dome.”
The special edition features Seattle-themed locations and resources, including Gore-Tex, Coffee, Amazon Stock, Beer Hops and Costco Cards.
“This game is hard—half the tiles are water and if you’re not careful you can get stuck in Bellevue with no chance at anything but ‘mall’ and ‘office’ development cards,” said Thompson’s friend Claire. “I thought I had a chance at the ‘largest army’ when I got a couple Seattle Police Department cards, but they bailed on the East Precinct tile by the time I got there.”
Following the success of Seattlers of Catan, Hasbro announced it would be releasing a special edition “Kingdome Jenga” set.
