Amazon’s Prime Day trial run of their new delivery drones this week reportedly still has a few bugs to work out after several of them were seen carrying Roombas back to their nest at the local fulfillment center.
“I heard a huge crash in my living room and ran out to see my Roomba being carried away by an Amazon drone through my open window,” said Queen Anne resident Mark Kimble. “It also knocked my Google Nest into the garbage disposal and shit a bunch of hydraulic fluid on my Tesla on the way out. I guess I should hide my iPhone when I order another Roomba because apparently these things are really territorial.”
Engineers working on the delivery system, dubbed “Prime Air,” examined the flight data and were able to track down which customers were victims of delivery drone predation.
“So far, our fleet did in fact bring back 80 Roombas, nine remote-controlled cars, three toasters, and an adorable—albeit slightly traumatized—terrier named Rex,” said Amazon engineer Kylie Schwartz. “Fear not: We’ll fly Rex back to his owners within two business days.”
Following the incident, UPS deliveries across the city were delayed after they were run off the road by swarms of angry Amazon delivery drones.
