A beautiful hiking trail spot in the Olympic Mountains was blown out into fiery smithereens today after a ne’er-do-well hiker geo-tagged gorgeous photos of his recent hike there and then posted them on social media.
“At approximately 11:08 a.m., the Dosewallips River Road Trail was absolutely and completely decimated when a local hiker posted photos of a recent hike here with a location for all to see on both his personal page and local hiking group pages,” said Mike Roosevelt, President of Keeping PNW Trails Sacred Commission. “We don’t know why he did it, but we will continue the fight to keep the location of our favorite trails sacred by only sharing it with our closest friends, 99 percent of which just happen to be white, non-Native people.”
The suspected arsonist and relatively new hiker, Roderick Penning, said he meant no harm.
“I just thought these were public lands stolen long ago from actual native peoples that we were all sharing and enjoying together now – I mean it’s a really great early-season hike,” said Penning before being chloroformed and dragged into a white van by Roosevelt.
In memory of the riparian hiking trail, the Keeping PNW Trails Sacred Commission is posting countless photos of other gorgeous trails on Facebook pages for Washington Hikers and Climbers and PNW Outdoor Women with no location and no replies to all comments asking for a location.
